I have been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. After teaching myself out of a book for a year, I decided to take guitar lessons with Will Adams. After taking my first lesson, I knew right then that I wanted to play guitar for the rest of my life. From then on I devoted countless hours to learning the instrument, from learning technique and theory, to learning about new musical genres and artists. Over time I started developing a strict practice regimen, at times practicing between 8-14 hours a day.
I started my first band during my junior year of high school. We were a heavy metal band and called ourselves Resecration. This is where I first performed onstage, and I immediately fell in love with performing my music. We performed in the Tacoma area for a year before the band broke up. I have also played with Silver Meddle, a keyboard guitar duo in eastern Washington, Lurid, a prominent rock band in the Tacoma area, and most recently with Empire of Ashes in Tacoma.
The greatest part of my playing over the years, however, has been teaching guitar. I started teaching when I was in high school. At first it was just a couple of friends that wanted to play, but I quickly discovered that I enjoyed teaching people how to play and my students enjoyed the lessons just as much. I soon branched out and started teaching many people in the Bonney Lake, Buckley, and Puyallup areas of Washington.
After going to Washington State University for two years, I decided to continue my music education. I transferred to Pacific Lutheran University and moved back to the western Washington area. While at school there I studied classical guitar with Elizabeth Brown and performed in the classical guitar orchestra and played in jazz combos. After two years there I had obtained my Bachelor of Musical Arts in classical guitar performance.
I have been teaching guitar now since 2005. Over this time I have expanded my musical horizons to learn and master several styles and techniques on the guitar, electric, acoustic and classical. I have also branched out and taught myself bass, drums, and keyboard. During my musical experience I have also recorded two albums: Guitar Masterpieces and Classical Guitar Christmas, both on solo classical guitar and both are available worldwide on iTunes. Even with these achievements I still aim to better myself as both a guitarist and musician and work to become the best guitarist I can be.
